Make sure your website can be found by search engines (and people!)
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a journey that takes long term effort — so we’re not going to promise that your new website will instantly appear at the top of Google’s search results by Friday. There are a lot of factors that go into achieving that prized position, and you need a website that’s built in a way to help you get there. That’s where we come in.
Our web packages are built to do a lot of things automatically so you can spend your time on the things that can’t be done by computers!
Here’s the SEO stuff that comes standard in all of our packages:
- WordPress as the Content Management System – (Find out why we love WordPress)
- We’ll make sure your website looks good and can be easily updated with fresh content so people will want to link to it and visit it.
- We’ll help you target one or two keyword phrases to focus on and include on every page.
- Your page titles will have your keyword phrases at the beginning of the tag, and any important phrases within the first 64 characters of the tag.
- Your pages will contain informational meta descriptions – these frequently show up in search results and can inspire people to click when used properly.
- Images used on your site will use the “alt” attribute which makes them “readable” by search engines.
- Your URLs will be “human-readable” and will use dashes instead of underscores to separate words within the phrase, like this: http://www.awesomewebsite.com/our-unique-services.
- Your sitemap.xml file will be submitted to Google, Yahoo, and other top search engines AUTOMATICALLY each time your website content changes, which increases the changes that your pages will be indexed more quickly by these engines.
- We will avoid using Flash™ for critical content because it cannot be easily read by search engines.
- If you’re migrating from an old site, we’ll make sure your old pages redirect to your new site so you don’t lose the “historical credit” you’ve built up with search engines.
What’s NOT included:
The packages we have created are affordable because we’ve separated out the things that you can do yourself to help you save money. While successful SEO does require the proper site structure, it also requires equal parts distinctive positioning, frequent writing, and a deliberate effort to engage key website and thought leaders in your field.
We have free monthly classes* to teach you how to do some of these things yourself, but if you prefer to spend your time on other things, we’re happy help you with these items for an additional fee.
- Make sure your website has lots of interesting content that stays fresh and uses your keywords consistently. We know writers that can help you with this if you have writer’s block!
- Get links to your site from other sites – including directories, related sites, and industry resources.
- Get links from those other sites with text containing keywords relevant to your site.
- Claim and manage your local search listings – especially if your business has more than one location.
- Develop an online marketing strategy to drive traffic to your website.
- Use social media to drive traffic to your website and build buzz.
- Use Pay-Per-Click (PPC) advertising to target your audience and get measurable results.
* Our monthly client brownbag sessions are free for the first year, and will continue to be free if you purchase a maintenance plan after the first year. Other advanced classes are offered periodically and may require a registration fee.
