Marisa Smith, President
Since her early days of playing office in her parents’ basement, Marisa has been obsessed with creating processes and automating repetitive tasks. She first developed an interest in web design and workflow automation after she got her master’s degree in Higher Education Administration at The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. While working as an advisor of undergraduate engineering students, she was frustrated by the lack of good electronic tools for managing student records, and decided to solve the problem herself.
Marisa worked at the University of Michigan for several years, helping administrative offices solve their paper problems by designing web-based electronic solutions, and decided to strike out on her own in 2002 so she could help even more people.
Her real passion is for improving the quality of life for individuals and organizations and she’s devoted to helping people implement electronic solutions to improve efficiency and create more time and abundance in their lives.
Chris Beecher, Development Manager
Chris joined The Whole Brain Group from the University of Michigan, where he worked for fifteen years as an IT professional in the Department of Research Development and Administration (DRDA). Chris’ experience developing systems to support institutional research activities, coupled with a passion for innovation, makes him an ideal fit for the Whole Brain Group. Chris holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from Michigan State University.
Dale Bond, Support & Documentation
Dale has worked in a variety of higher education and business settings. He began his programming career in 1998, when he was asked to train for an IBM mainframe programmer position in the Medicare Systems Division of United HealthCare. A graduate of Baldwin-Wallace College, Dale also holds Master’s Degrees in Religion and Medical Ethics from Yale University.
Bonnie Valentine, Business Development & Consulting
Bonnie brings thirteen years of IT experience to The Whole Brain Group. She has held a variety of positions in both high-tech and higher education environments, ranging from technical support to business and finance. After serving as Project Coordinator on the University of Michigan’s electronic IRB application project team, Bonnie returned to college in January, 2006, completing her Bachelor’s Degree in Business. Furthering her education, Bonnie earned her project management certification in 2007.
